Milwaukee woman charged for bringing gun on school grounds

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A Milwaukee woman is facing charges for bringing a gun onto school grounds on February 19.

According to court documents, Shamika Parks is facing charges of possession of a firearm on grounds of a school and disorderly conduct.

A criminal complaint states Parks was called to Carmen High School after tobacco products and a taser were found in her daughter’s locker following a random search.

Once at the school, authorities say the daughter told Parks the tobacco products belonged to her brother who was also at the school.

Both students were called to the office to meet with school officials and Parks.

Soon after, court documents state Parks was yelling at the boy and followed him through the school. Eventually, Parks left the building and took her purse from her daughter. School officials saw Parks take a gun out of the bag and insert a magazine into it.

She then left the area.

Parks faces up to 3 years and 9 months in prison and $11,000 in fines.
