MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The second annual Big Band BBQ will take place Friday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at Third Space Brewing.
We were joined by Emmitt James, creator of the Big Band BBQ and Darnell Hamilton, Executive Director of Future Urban Leaders to discuss the event on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
The Friday event will feature a 22-member band, up from 13 members last year, including choir members, string players, brass, woodwinds and more. The event also includes an opening comedy act by Emmy-nominated writer and producer Joel Boyd.
James created the show to offer free food and entertainment to the community. Thanks to partnerships with local organizations like Third Space Brewing and Harmonic Harvest, the event is free and will raise funds for Future Urban Leaders, a nonprofit supporting local youth.
