Milwaukee Public Museum gifts free memberships to 4K local families

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Public Museum memberships were gifted to 4,000 local families at the Hmong American Peace Academy (HAPA) on April 29, also known as Giving Day.

"It's an opportunity to enrich the lives of our young people, given the fact 95% of our students live below the poverty line, particularly during this COVID-19 situation," said Chris Her-Xiong, executive director and founder of HAPA.

The Yabuki Family Foundation donated to the cause.

Memberships were given to 184 families with children from the Hmong American Peace Academy, while 189 went to those from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee.
