Milwaukee police officers prepare dinner for dozens of kids

Dozens of children were joined by special guests at the table.

The Youth Center hosts guest chefs every Friday. Tonight, Milwaukee Police District 5 officers prepared dinner. The officers got to take a break and enjoy the pizza too.

They say events like this are essential to building good relationships with children in the community.

"It gives them an opportunity to see us outside of that work environment. When we're on scenes or doing something, we don't get to engage with them. This way they can sit down and talk to us about anything or ask questions," said Police officer Edward Ciano.

The Lighthouse Youth Center provides a safe place for children to go after school, to work on homework, socialize, and eat a healthy meal.
