MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police took time Wednesday night to honor officers at the Milwaukee Police Department Merit Awards Ceremony. 

"It's a great acknowledgement, shows that we're on the right track, we're doing things we need to be doing, and to the best of our ability," said Detective Donald Gaglione. 

Officers were recognized for their work in the field. 

Detective Gaglione was up for two awards Wednesday night. One of them was a unit service award.

He's part of the Special Investigations Division, which he says is full of hardworking people focused on making Milwaukee safer.
