MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee police are investigating a string of armed robberies that happened overnight Tuesday, including one that left a woman hurt.
The robberies happened between midnight and 3 a.m. Milwaukee police are trying to figure out if any of them are connected.
A woman was injured during a robbery on 3rd and Mineral. People in the neighborhood say they're afraid for their safety, and people across the city are shaken up after hearing about nine reported armed robberies from the north side to the south side.
Four of them were on the south side, with the first on 6th and Grant. About ten minutes later, another robbery occurred at 26th and National, then on Becher and S. Muskego.
A neighbor near 3rd and Mineral told CBS 58 what he heard after coming home late Tuesday night.
"They fired one shot, they gave her a mild concussion, chipped tooth, and she had to go to the hospital," said Michael Engel who lives nearby.
There were also two reported robberies in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood - first near Booth and Locust.
"I guess my roommate got robbed, police were here last night talking to him about it," said Zak Zdanczewicz. "Don't walk alone, don't walk at night. Stick with your friends."
His roommate is OK, but he's now watching his back.
Two other robberies were reported on the north side. Milwaukee police believe several of them are connected.
No one is in custody at this time.
