WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A woman was run over by her own vehicle in a freak accident on Tuesday, March 24.

Just after 8:30 a.m., authorities were called to the Froedtert Medical College of Wisconsin's parking lot. 

Officials say the woman was attempting to use a key fob to access the parking lot and partially exited her vehicle to better reach the reader. While doing so, the vehicle continued moving forward. 

According to police, the woman lost her footing and was unable to get back in the vehicle and it proceeded to roll over her at a slow rate of speed. 

The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to treatment.
