Milwaukee Police District 2 and 3 hold National Night Out

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police District 2 and 3 held National Night Out events Tuesday night.

It's a chance for members of the community to meet their local law enforcement.

Matthew Kreuger, the U.S. Attorney for the eastern district of Wisconsin, stopped by the District 3 event in Washington Park and talked about a nationwide partnership between police and community leaders. 

"We've got project safe neighborhoods is what we're using to try to work with law enforcement on all levels -- but also with community groups, to try to be sure that we're putting resources to the place it can be most effective."

He says part of that is reentry work, which helps anyone leaving prison find support as they rebuild their lives.
