Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett urging local businesses to apply for federal assistance

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is urging local businesses to apply for federal assistance as soon as possible to receive money through the COVID-19 economic recovery legislation.

In a press release, the mayor provided the following statement:

“Small Milwaukee businesses deserve the support Congress has offered. But, the only way they will receive that support is to act quickly,” Barrett said. “Local employers need to work with their banks so that they can receive the emergency small business loans.”

Congress is expected to soon add hundreds of millions of dollars to the emergency small business loan program known as the Paycheck Protection Program.

More information and tools for local businesses can be found on the City of Milwaukee's website.
