MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) said they responded to a rubbish fire at a recycling facility near 16th and Bruce on Saturday, April 3.
As of Saturday April 3 at 8:30 p.m., the Milwaukee Fire Department says crews have not determined how it started and are still checking for hot spots in a pile of scrap metal at the Alter Mutual Recycling and Miller Compression Co. location.
The fire caused billows of smoke to pour into the air Saturday afternoon and was visible for miles around Greater Milwaukee.
Officials report no injuries occurred at the recycling center.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
