Milwaukee Fire Department Receives Top Honors for Insurance
The Milwaukee Fire Department is receiving top honors.
The department obtained a Class 1 insurance rate one of only three departments in the state to receive the status.
It will mean lower insurance rates for those who live in Milwaukee.
It's a first for MFD and an improvement from a Class 2 city.
Departments are judged on 10 different criteria including response capabilities, communication and water supply.
Officials say a team effort made this possible.
"The plentiful supply that is ready for us to do our job as firefighters to do our job is really a huge asset want to thank them for their theirs in our efforts,” said John Schwengel/ deputy chief.
The insurance service office rating is used by all insurance companies in setting rates.
The departments are rated every 4 to 5 years.
