MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County are reminding everyone of the true meaning of the holiday season.
They kicked off their 17th Annual Holiday Drive Tuesday morning, Nov. 19.
This year, the drive is benefiting individuals and families at Meta House.
Meta House is a local organization that helps women and families affected by drug and alcohol addiction.
Mayor Cavalier Johnson encourages the community to open up their heart this holiday season.
"These gifts don't just provide material things," Mayor Johnson said. "They bring joy, they bring hope, and a sense of normalcy to children who might otherwise feel overlooked during this very special time of the year."
All contributions to the holiday drive benefit Meta House.
Gifts can be dropped off at numerous locations throughout the city, including City Hall, the county courthouse, and the Milwaukee County Zoo.
The holiday drive ends Dec. 13.
