MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Early childhood educator and author Kelly Melton joined us Wednesday, Sept. 23 to offer details about her second children's book, "Riley's First Day at The Itsy Bitsy Scholars," which she says helps children ages 0-6 know what to expect in an early learning environment.
The book is also available in Spanish, with accompanying activity and coloring books in both languages.
Melton hosted a book signing and reading Sept. 19 at the Milwaukee Public Library's Martin Luther King Jr. branch.
The conversation also touched on her experience self-publishing as a Black author, the importance of representation in children's books and her background helping child care providers become licensed in Wisconsin.
