MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) announced their fall service schedule on Monday, and it's their largest update since 2021.

Forty of their 46 routes will be impacted, with 95 new bus stop locations and four new routes, all beginning on Sunday, Aug. 24.

Much of the change was sparked by the MOVE 2025 plan after MCTS held nearly two dozen meetings with the public and county leadership to determine what was most needed.

Some of the larger improvements are to and from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee campus, with every route there starting and ending along Kenwood Boulevard between Maryland and Downer Avenue.

One student told CBS 58 that is a welcomed change.

"With all the sporadic locations, it was just kind of annoying, but all in one place is a bit better," said junior Deilia Patterson. "For freshman and newer students, if they see that all in one place, they can be like - okay, I can easily get on the bus and not get lost."

There are some routes across the county that will have slower service, and MCTS blames that on budget shortfalls.

Some wait times will be extended by five to 10 minutes, depending on the route and time of day.
