MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A Milwaukee Boys and Girls Club is getting a second chance thanks to a generous donation.
The Daniels-Mardak Boys and Girls Club at 35th and Hampton in Milwaukee closed on August 25 after an issue with the lease, but now it’s coming back.
Longtime donors Keith Mardak and Mary Vandenburg donated $1.5 million to open the Daniels-Mardak location in 2004 and now they are doing it again, donating $300,000 to make sure the club stays open.
With this financial help, the Boys and Girls Club was able to was able to renegotiate a new seven year lease with the landlord, Holy Redeemer Institutional Church of God in Christ.
The new lease will also give the club ten more rooms to use, allowing the club to help more kids.
The club will start welcoming back members on Monday, October 2.
