MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee is shaping up to be more EV friendly in the coming years.
Wednesday, Dec. 18, Mayor Cavalier Johnson signed off on nearly $15 million worth of federal money to expand a system of electric vehicle charging stations.
He hopes more stations lead to more drivers choosing electric.
"To reduce these emissions and local air pollution, we're making our streets safer for bikes and pedestrians as well," Mayor Johnson said. "We know cars are important, so we want more drivers to choose between electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles, too."
The grant will be used to install more than 50 EV charging stations, with the first being located at Milwaukee Public Library.
