Merry Christmas to those of you celebrating! We kick off the holiday weekend with some very mild temps on Friday, Christmas Eve. Highs will reach at least the middle to upper 40s with some hitting 50*! The mild air sticks around all weekend with highs in the low 40s on Christmas Day and around 40* for Sunday.
Each day has at least a chance for seeing some type of precipitation. Christmas Eve looks kind of gloomy with low clouds, fog, mist, drizzle and a few light showers possible. The chance for rain and snow on Christmas Day has really decreased. The best chance would be in then morning in southern areas near IL with a few light rain showers. A few stray flurries are possible but they wouldn't happen until the evening.
We like to have a little bit of hope during the holiday so we are keeping our White Christmas chance at 1%. We won't see the 1" of snow on the ground that we officially need for a "White Christmas" but we do still have the opportunity for those flurries to make it feel a little festive.
The chance for some precipitation on Sunday evening and at night continues to increase. It is our best chance for some accumulating snow during the holiday weekend with snow starting Sunday night before switching over the rain Monday morning.
