Marquette loses in OT, Big East home streak snapped

The Marquette Golden Eagles lost to the fourth-ranked Villanova Wildcats 93-84 in overtime Saturday afternoon at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Todd Mayo scored the final ten points for Marquette in regulation, including hitting three free throws to send the game to overtime. A Villanova Wildcat basket with 0.4 seconds left was waived off after Steve Taylor drew a charge.

In overtime, Marquette gave up scores on every posession, being outscored 17-8 in the extra session.

The loss ends Marquette's 20-game home win streak in the Big East, the third longest conference streak in the country.
