MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The man charged with shooting and killing a Milwaukee mother of eight was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision Wednesday, Aug. 27.

On April 1, 2024, police officers responded to the scene of the shooting at 18th and Hadley on Milwaukee’s north side. The victim's family told a CBS 58 reporter 42-year-old Lakeyshia Timmons was found shot to death steps away from her home, with two gunshot wounds to her abdomen.

According to the criminal complaint, Timmons lived at the home with several of her children, three of which she shared with Fuller. The complaint stated that Timmons and then-52-year-old Fuller were going through a messy child custody dispute and Fuller admitted to shooting Timmons.

On Wednesday, 54-year-old Robert Fuller appeared in court for his sentencing hearing. Timmons’ mother, brother and son addressed the court.

“It’ll never bring my daughter back. I still wake up in the night, waiting on a phone call, knowing that she’s never coming back," said Latanilia Timmons.

Fuller's attorney said the 54-year-old man was on ecstasy at the time of the shooting and was still battling the emotional toll of his actions.

The judge said this was the maximum sentence she could have given Fuller. She told him she thought his actions were dangerous and harmful, not only to his own children, but to his community overall.
