MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Charges have been filed against a man accused of killing a Milwaukee mother of eight on April 1.

Ronald Fuller, 52, is charged with first-degree reckless homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon in the death of 42-year-old Lakeyshia Timmons.

Officers responded to the area near the intersection of North 18th St. and West Hadley St. just after 7:30 a.m. Monday, April 1, after a report of shots fired. When authorities arrived, they located a woman, later identified as Timmons, on the ground with two gunshot wounds in her abdomen.

Members of the Milwaukee Fire Department responded and provided medical attention, but Timmons was pronounced dead at the scene.

The criminal complaint states that Timmons lived at the home with several of her children, three of which she shared with Fuller.

The complaint states one of her sons spoke with a detective and said his mother and Fuller have been going through a messy child custody dispute, and that his mother had been granted custody of the girls last November.

Her son also told police he was awoken by the sound of multiple gunshots coming from outside his home early that Monday morning.

Detectives report that Timmons was approached by a man with a hood who was limping, believed to be Fuller.

Police recovered video from the area, according to the complaint, showing a person with an apparent limp walking around the area just before the shooting occurred. It stated that around 7:33 a.m., the individual appears on the south side of Timmons' home as she pulls up to the house and gets out of a van.

The man with a hood on was believed to be Fuller. The complaint said the detective heard the following encounter:

"Ron, what the F-- you doing Ron, don't play with me Ron, don't play with me. Ron, Ron no, I am your baby momma dude, what the F-- is wrong with you Ron, Ron stop playing."

Detectives then reported hearing nine gunshots in the surveillance footage.

Investigators spoke with Fuller just days after the incident on April 3, according to the complaint, and told police that nothing was going through his head when it happened, and he had no reason to do what he did. He said he was seconds away from walking away, when Timmons came home, and at that point, he was afraid to walk away because she would have seen him, and he didn't want that.

The complaint goes on to say that Fuller admitted to the shooting.

"Yes, I did shoot her. Why? I don't have an answer." He said the devil made him walk over to her house. The complaint also states that "he was not sure he hit her because he was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and he was nervous, so his aim was off." He said he only wanted to wound her, and he did this to take care of the kids. He then threw the gun in a recycling bin.

A $250,000 cash bond for Fuller was set in court on Friday, April 5.

He faces up to 65 years in prison. A preliminary hearing is set for Thursday, April 11.
