A marked Milwaukee Police Department squad attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by three male subjects for a registration violation just after 8:00 on Friday night.
As the vehicle slowed one of the passengers, armed with a handgun, exited the vehicle and fled on foot in the 1100 block of W. Manitoba St.
An officer pursued this subject on foot through an alley where the unidentified male turned toward him while also turning the gun toward the officer.
The officer fired one shot and the suspect fled. He was not apprehended and there is no evidence that he was struck by gunfire.
