Man dies after second vehicle hits disabled car on I-94 in Kenosha County
CBS 58 KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 21-year-old man died after his car was struck by a second vehicle while disabled on SB I-94 in Kenosha County Sunday morning, July 5, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were dispatched around 8:44 a.m. after the man's Toyota Camry hit a median wall and became disabled, partially blocking the inside lanes. While deputies were responding, a Kia Telluride traveling southbound struck the disabled car around 8:52 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.
The Toyota's driver, the vehicle's sole occupant, was taken to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, where he was later pronounced dead. The Kia's driver and a juvenile passenger were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say there were no signs of impairment by alcohol or drugs. The Major Crash Assistance Team is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
I-94 southbound was closed for several hours before reopening at 12:29 p.m.
"This is a heartbreaking incident, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by this crash," said Sheriff David Zoerner.
