MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) – A suspect is in custody in Mount Pleasant after running from police and dragging an officer on Sunday evening.
Authorities say it started when police pulled over a car for a traffic violation near N. Frontage Rd. and Stuart Rd. in the Village of Mount Pleasant around 11:32 p.m.
The car took off as the officer approached. Police say the officer followed the car until it stopped and the suspect ran away from the scene. The officer got out of his car with a K9. Then, police say the suspect got back into his car and drove away again, dragging the officer a short distance. The driver stopped soon after and ran away. He was later located hiding in a vehicle nearby.
He was taken into custody on several charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
