KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Kenosha man was sentenced to life in prison without parole Friday, for the murder of 20-year-old Julian Flores in February of 2024.

Treshawn Tooks was arrested in Arkansas days after the fatal shooting, which the victim's grandfather witnessed, according to the criminal complaint. It says Flores' grandfather told investigators he saw his grandson walk toward a man walking east on 42nd St. when the man fired a gun, striking Flores.

Detectives located two pink Laffy Taffy candy wrappers near the victim.

Surveillance from the nearby Westown Foods -- at 43rd and Sheridan -- captured a man later identified as Tooks purchasing pink Laffy Taffy candy just before the shooting.

A jury found Tooks guilty of first degree reckless homicide in March.
