Local Vets Recognized At Zablocki VA For Christmas
The holidays can be a tough time for veterans or those who are currently serving our country -- but on Tuesday, the Zablocki VA Medical Center worked to make it a happier time for some military men and women.
Gifts have been collected over the last few weeks during the annual drive, and those gifts were handed out Tuesday.
Gary Wetzel, the Medal of Honor recipient seriously injured in a motorcycle accident earlier this year, was at the event. The mayor also stopped by, expressing his gratitude to those who fought for our country.
"Sometimes the holiday season is a tough time where they go to the families, we all go to our families, for the holiday season," said Daniel Zomchek, Medical Center Director. "So we get to bring family to them. Because that's what we are here, a family."
