Local pit bull owner in trouble again

MOUNT PLEASANT-A nine year old girl suffered puncture wounds on her legs and a cut to her face in what police describe as a pit bull attack.

The owner tells CBS 58 that the dog is a puppy and that it was just play.

Rachel Chavez, the little girl's mother, says the child is doing better and that she screamed for help and other neighbors came to her rescue.

CBS 58 News has learned that about five months ago, another pit bull owned by the same woman was shot and killed by police after officers say the dog charged at them.

Other pit bull owners in the area tell CBS 58's Bill Walsh that the problem isn't the dog but the owner.

That owner says once the dog is out of quarantine she will find a new home for the animal.

CBS 58's Bill Walsh has more in his report from 10 p.m. Monday night.
