Beautiful today before much needed rain arrives this weekend
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A beautiful story as we approach Mother's Day weekend.
A local mom enjoyed an emotional reunion Tuesday, May 4, with the medical team that saved her life.
Abby Bar-Lev Wiley's 6-month-old baby Micah stared in wonder at the cameras.
They were outside Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, waiting for Tuesday's reunion.
When Abby was pregnant with Micah, she learned that she had a rare and life-threatening condition called placenta accreta.
She needed a C-section, blood transfusions and hysterectomy after delivery, and Dr. Nicole Salvo led the team that saved her.
On Tuesday, Abby brought Micah back to meet them all.
"Oh my gosh, I cried when I saw them," said Dr. Salvo. "I think it's wonderful to get to see her again and see the baby and sort of get a glimpse into the life of after this."
"On one hand it's unfortunate that we are being covered because I'm sure we are one of many," said Abby. "Really there should be a line down the street of people who are here willing to talk to you about their experiences with this team. Cause they're the best people in the world."
Dr. Salvo says at Aurora Sinai they use special teams like hers to promote the health of moms, as well as their new babies.
