Last Uncommitted Wisconsin Superdelegate Backing Clinton

(AP) — Wisconsin's last uncommitted Democratic superdelegate says he'll back Hillary Clinton.

U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan of Madison issued a news release Thursday saying it's clear Clinton will be the Democratic presidential nominee. He becomes the ninth Wisconsin Democratic superdelegate to back Clinton.

Pocan says he's proud of Clinton for taking on progressive issues like universal child care, debt-free college and a ban on military assault-style weapons. He says she's more than up to the task of soundly defeating presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Clinton capped her primary campaign Tuesday with a win over rival Bernie Sanders in the Washington, D.C., primary.

Pocan praised Sanders for pushing progressive issues during his campaign. He promised to work with Sanders to include progressive priorities in the party platform at the Democratic national convention.
