BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) – Three people are dead, including a suspect, following a shooting that happened at the Park Plaza apartments in Brown Deer on Saturday, Feb. 5.

Officers were called to the 60-unit apartment complex just after 10 a.m., for a report of a victim shot at in the parking lot, according to Brown Deer Police Chief Pete Nimmer.

"When (the officers) arrived, the suspect was on the second floor balcony firing at our officers. They actually hit our K-9 squad. Thankfully, the K-9 was not struck," Nimmer said.

He said officers did not fire back.

Nimmer said the suspect, a 26-year-old man, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He identified the victims as a 31-year-old man and 23-year-old woman.

A 36-year-old man was also shot in the leg and taken to Froedtert Hospital. He is expected to be OK.

Nimmer said police were made aware that the suspect was livestreaming the incident on Facebook.

Police believe the suspect lived at the apartment complex and knew at least one of the victims. They said it appears the incident started as a domestic dispute between two people. Authorities asked people inside the building to shelter in place while they secured the scene.

"At this time, the scene is safe. There's no other suspects that we are looking for," Nimmer said.

A child was also inside the apartment where the suspect was. The child was not hurt and is now with family.

The Milwaukee Police Department, the North Shore Fire Department, and the FBI responded to the scene. No officers were injured.

The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is conducting the investigation due to the magnitude of the crime scene. The Wauwatosa Police Department is leading the investigation.
