MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One area shelter is offering an opportunity to ease the process for families to add a loving pet to their homes while supporting the work of the shelter.
Kristen Perry, Executive Director of Lakeland Animal Shelter, joined us on Wednesday, March 22 to share details on the shelter offering discounted adoption fees for the month of March in an effort to find loving families for the many dogs they are caring for.
With kennels filling up, the shelter is reducing the adoption fees to $100 for dogs that have been residing at the facility for more than six months. This promotion, however, will not apply to puppies under six months of age.
The shelter aims to find forever homes for these long-term canine residents, who are eager to share their love with new families. Prospective adopters must follow the standard adoption process, which includes submitting an application and waiting 24 to 48 hours for approval.
Additionally, all family members must meet the prospective adoptee before finalizing the adoption.
Interested individuals can apply for adoption online by visiting the Lakeland Animal Shelter website and completing the dog adoption form. Those with approved applications can visit the shelter during open hours to meet the animals, provided all household members are present.
