Kenosha Co. officials catch escaped prisoner with help of OnStar device

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An escaped prisoner is back behind bars, thanks in part to technology a lot of us have in our vehicles.

Police say 43-year-old Wesley Anderson escaped from a squad car in Illinois and carjacked a vehicle on the interstate.

Later, they say he carjacked another car, but that one was equipped with OnStar, a vehicle location service used for navigation and emergency response.

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department called OnStar, and they were able to slowly stop the car on I-94, allowing deputies to arrest Anderson.

He's facing even more charges after he fought with deputies in the hospital.
