K9 unit finds missing hiker in Racine County

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Saturday evening around 5:31 p.m. Racine Dispatch took a call from someone concerned that an elderly man went for a hike in the Honey Creek Wildlife refuge around noon and didn't return.

The caller tried to find the man for a while but couldn't. Weather at the time of the call was in the low 30s with snow falling.

First responders used a loud hail to reach the hiker but did not receive a response. Three K9 units, DNR wardens and other emergency officials responded and started searching. 

K9 Nitro tracked for about 30 minutes before locating the 79-year-old Milwaukee man.

The hiker was hungry and thirsty but otherwise was in good health.
