Just 2 weeks left in Wisconsin's 'short but sweet' strawberry picking season 🍓
BRISTOL, Wis. (CBS 58) -- This weekend's rain was a welcomed sight for farmers across Southeast Wisconsin. Many are struggling to grow crops after a rough spring and a dry summer.
"Strawberries are the very first fruit that are ready in the spring, so they're really effected by the weather," said Scott Thompson, the owner of Thompson Strawberry Farm. "This year we're behind just a little bit about four or five days. We're just now getting into the peak of the season."
Strawberries are ripe at Thompson Strawberry Farm in Bristol! They’re open every day now thru 4th of July weekend for u-pick ?. @MikeCurkov can make all the strawberry sandwiches his heart desires. I’ll stick to margaritas or homemade jam ? with @AlexCorradetti pic.twitter.com/MO0xp2XQXf

You have two full weeks to come pick through the 21-acres of strawberries at Thompson's Strawberry farm. The crop is expected to last through 4th of July weekend.
"When you come out here and pick your own, you get to taste what you're getting, and you'll tell right away this is not your regular strawberry at the grocery store this is way better," said Thompson.
This year's heat means the strawberries are sweeter than normal. Thompson's is one of the only u-pick strawberry farms open this year with a full field of strawberries.
The growing season is short and sweet, so Thompson Strawberry Farm will be open at 8 a.m. all seven days this week.
