It's part of the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission's process for selecting the city's next permanent chief.
Norman was named acting chief in December, and has served as the city's top cop during an extremely difficult year.
That includes the massive search for 3-year-old Major Harris, who was found dead on the north side Thursday, Oct. 21.
Norman was asked about his leadership during the search effort.
"It starts at the top. Being able to stand on that and work with our community and be genuine about it, I hope that says a lot. It's not only important to say the words, but also action," said Acting Chief Norman.
Two more meetings with the public input will be held over the next week. A final vote on Norman's promotion could come by Nov. 4.
