Islamic Relief USA, Hanan Refugee Relief Group, Islamic Societ of Milwaukee team up with Hunger Task Force for food giveaway

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- CBS 58's Drive Thru Food Drive on Friday, Nov. 17 is not the only community-supported event scheduled to help provide food for people in need during a time where many area families need the support most.

Islamic Relief USA is partnering with the Hanan Refugee Relief Group, Islamic Society of Milwaukee and Hunger Task Force to distribute Halal turkeys in Milwaukee on Saturday, Nov. 18, in a charitable effort to address food insecurity and the impact of rising grocery costs.

The giveaway will also consist of dry and canned goods, as well as winter kits and will take place at Salam Elementary School, located at 815 West Layton Ave.

Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the distribution is aimed at assisting underserved populations, with turkeys being available while supplies last. The initiative is part of a broader response to the increased challenges many families face with higher grocery bills and food scarcity issues, particularly as Thanksgiving approaches.
