MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A longstanding tradition continued St. Joan Antida High School on on Sunday, Nov. 3.

For its 69th year, Spaghetti with the Sisters has not only been a main fundraiser for the school but has brought the community together.

"In my mind, in my heart is more important than raising the money and that is it's a community builder," said Sister Jennifer Daul, Academic Coach at St. Joan Antida.

This decades long tradition has been a Milwaukee staple and is an investment in the future of Milwaukee.

"Many of the graduates who graduate from over seven years at St. Joan Antida stays in Milwaukee. They don't leave else where they stay in Milwaukee to make an impact," said Rene Howard-Paez, President of St. Joan Antida High School.

President of St. Joan Atida, Rene Howard-Paez says every dollar raised goes right back into the students.

"One hundred percent of our students get some form of financial aid," said Howard-Paez.

Sister Jennifer has been with the school for more than 60 years. She says not much has changed since she started as a freshman.

"The recipe has been tweaked, meatballs no longer have pork because we respect people who don't eat pork, the sauce receipt is identical to the first Sunday it was made," said Sister Jennifer. "The spirit has not changed, the energy that is generated by the girls and the people that come by and celebrate that all remains the same."

This year the school prepared 4,000 hand rolled meatballs for the event and hope to raise $55,000

If you missed it, be sure to mark your calendar next year for the first Sunday in November.
