‘I’m in the North Pole’: How Santa socially-distanced ahead of Christmas

(CBS 58) – Visits with Santa looked a little different this holiday season.

Many children shared their wish-lists with St. Nick either from a distance or through a screen.

“You were on the nice list so not to worry!” Santa told 3-year-old Vienna from Whitefish Bay over Zoom. “As you can see I’m in the North Pole workshop, so I’ve been paying attention to what the elces are doing to make sure they’re going to have all of the toys ready in time.”

The North Shore Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee worked with Santa’s elves to set up the calls.

“We identified that they we aren’t going to be able to have our annual pancake breakfast with Santa Claus so we thought that was a pretty big blow,” President William Lauer said. “So we thought of another fundraiser and more importantly, a way for the kids to still connect with Santa.”

For those who wanted to see him in person, several malls and stores across Wisconsin made sure children got to see and talk to Santa from a safe distance.
