MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two people are now arrested after a crash led to a fire at two Milwaukee homes early Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Milwaukee Police said they tried to stop a vehicle that blew a red light on West Burleigh Street around 2:30 a.m. The driver did not stop and a short pursuit began.
Police said the suspect car lost control and went airborne on North 13th Street, and crashed into a front porch. As a result of the crash, two homes caught fire.
Cellphone video from neighbors captured the flames.
Tuesday afternoon, charred debris remained.
"This house looks like its in the middle of a warzone," Kiara Wilson said.
Wilson's parents live next door to the home where the crash happened. The suspect vehicle drove through her parents lawn breaking a gate and railing.
"I was scared to death, you know, the reckless driving is getting terrible around here," Wilson said.
Police say the driver, a 21-year-old Milwaukee woman, and passenger, a 24-year-old Milwaukee man tried to take off after the crash but were arrested. Both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police will be referring criminal charges to the district attorney's office in the coming days.
