'Everybody’s happy': Brewers fans go home full of hope after Opening Day win

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) - Brewers fans packed American Family Field on Thursday, March 26, for Opening Day, picking up right where they left off from the 2025 season.

Jill and Mike Reed have been watching and going to Brewers games since the County Stadium days and came to Opening Day for the first time on Thursday.

“This is a first-time thing, first time because we are now season ticket holders,” Jill Reed said. “It’s just being in the environment of it happening, everybody’s happy.”

Casey Ward has been to 18 consecutive opening days, not counting 2020.

“I’ve been to a few opening days where we’ve gotten our butt kicked,” Ward said.

That was not the case on Thursday, with the Brewers blowing out the White Sox on the way to their first win of the season.

“It’s very early, a lot of things change throughout the year, injuries and things that go on.” Ward said. “Just gotta keep it level and once you get into August you start to ramp some things up.”

Opening Day is special and has become a tradition for fans, but a win on Opening Day takes the experience to another level.

“That makes it like 100 times better,” Brewers fan Katherine Zimney said. “I think that the Brewers winning makes it not only better but that everyone is here and its opening day.”
