Hayat Pharmacy awarded Health Mart Pharmacy of the Year

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local pharmacy that's been helping Milwaukee get through the pandemic received a major honor Friday, Jan. 28.

Hayat Pharmacy was selected as the Health Mart franchise Pharmacy of the Year.

State Senator Chris Larson and State Representative Jonathan Brostoff were on hand to present the owners with a special plaque from Governor Tony Evers.

Hayat locations have administered more than 40,000 vaccines.

"A lot of us have worked first shift, second shift, third shift in order to take care of the community, and it's a thank you from the community to Hayat," said Dr. Hashim Zaibak, co-owner of Hayat Pharmacy. "And now it's our turn to work harder and gives us an incentive to do more, and think what's the next thing we can do to take care of Milwaukee?"

Hayat is the only Health Mart franchise to win the Pharmacy of the Year award twice.

Hayat also won it in 2014.
