Habitat for Humanity build season underway in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The cold and snow didn't stop the start of Milwaukee's Habitat for Humanity 2019 build season.

Wells Fargo donated $200,000 to Habitat for Humanity on Thursday. That money will go towards building homes and home repairs. Habitat is in year two of its Midtown 100 initiative which will build 100 homes in the Midtown neighborhood by 2020.

"If you would have been here one year ago, you would have seen blocks of vacant lots and today you see dozens of homes under construction, we have families that are already moved in and others that will be joining them in the coming months," said Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Brian Sonderman.

Habitat plans to start construction on 25 new homes this spring and summer in the Midtown neighborhood.
