Greenfield man pleads guilty in reckless driving crash that killed 4-year-old

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Greenfield man pleaded guilty Thursday in a crash that killed a 4-year-old boy in June of 2022.

Thomas McIntyre, 27, was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide and second-degree reckless injury in the deadly crash. Court records show a charge of first-degree recklessly endangering safety was dismissed.

Four-year-old Alexis Calles Gonzales died from his injuries after McIntyre drove through an intersection near 108th and National, straight into the back of the victim's vehicle. Two other occupants, a 50-year-old woman and 46-year-old woman, were seriously injured in the crash.

A criminal complaint says an officer estimated McIntyre was traveling 80 mph in a 40 mph zone. The officer noted no signs that McIntyre braked before impact or made any attempt to avoid the collision.

The complaint says an officer asked McIntyre if he was speeding, and McIntyre reportedly said he believed he was going over 100 mph.

While in the hospital, McIntyre admitted to drinking about eight or nine shots about 45 minutes prior to the crash.

A sentencing hearing is set for June 29.
