Gov. Walker talks tourism during visit to Harley-Davidson Museum

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Governor Scott Walker made a stop in Milwaukee Tuesday morning at the Harley-Davidson Museum.

Walker toured several exhibits at the museum that featured the company’s history.

In 2017, tourist spending rose more than 3 percent, bringing in $12.7 billion dollars. Milwaukee County led all counties with nearly $2 billion. While at the museum, the governor spoke with former senior vice president of Harley-Davidson, Willie G. Davidson, and highlighted the company’s positive impact on the state.

“We’re up to 198,000 plus jobs directly tied to tourism in the state,” Walker said. “Some of them are seasonal but many like the ones here at the museum are full time careers that support people and their families.”

Walker says 110 million people visited the state in 2017, up more than 17 million visits from years past.
