Good Samaritan who stopped to help change tire killed by truck on I-39 SB in Marathon County

MARATHON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A semi truck driver who stopped to help someone else change their flat tire was hit and killed by a truck on Tuesday evening.

State Patrol was called out to I-39 SB near mile marker 186.8 in Marathon County for a report of a fatal accident.

The investigation revealed that a Dodge Ram pickup truck pulling a camper trailer pulled onto the shoulder of I-39 southbound to change a flat tire.

While the driver of the camper was changing the tire, a semi tractor driver pulled onto the shoulder to assist with the tire change.

The driver of the semi tractor was walking back to his truck to retrieve some tools when a truck traveling in lane two struck the man, causing fatal injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
