Funeral for Andre Smith, 12-year-old boy beaten to death, to be held Friday morning

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The funeral and memorial service for Andre Smith, the 12-year-old Milwaukee boy allegedly killed by his grandfather, will take place Friday morning, Sept. 10, at Solomon's Temple Evangelistic Ministries in Milwaukee.

Visitation is set for 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m.

On Thursday, his mother told us the system failed her and her family.

"Andre's death could have been prevented had the guardian, the judges, the CPS, the police, been more responsible in making sure that my baby was safe," Nakeda Martina said. 

Fifty-three-year-old Andrez Martina faces two life sentences in the beating death of Andre.

The state says there is strong evidence in this case, with two eye witnesses and a confession from Martina.
