Free and Safe Rides on New Year's Eve

If you find yourself a little "too happy" this New Year's Eve there may be a free option to help you get home safely.
In Milwaukee County all city buses are free starting at 8 PM on New Year's Eve. There are more than a dozen routes that run until 4 AM. All you have to do is get on a Milwaukee County bus, the fare is free, and will even go to suburbs like Brookfield and near UWM's campus.
Racine and Waukesha do not have free rides. They will run their normal routes and times, and have a $2 fee. Some don't go past midnight.
Cab companies say expect to wait up to 40 minutes for a cab to arrive. The good news is their fares are set by the city, Uber's rates can still fluctuate because the city doesn't regulate a base rate.
