Fond du Lac County man, 68, killed in crash involving semi

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office has identified the driver killed in this crash as Gary Wojtalewicz of Malone, Wisconsin.

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities say a 68-year-old Fond du Lac County man was killed in a crash involving a pickup truck and semi-tractor Thursday, Jan. 21.

It happened around 11:43 a.m. near Kiekhaefer Parkway in the town of Taycheedah.

Officials say the pickup truck driver was in the process of slowing to make a left turn into a driveway when a semi-tractor and trailer struck the truck from behind.

The pickup truck then traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead shortly after, despite lifesaving attempts by first responders.

The semi-tractor was operated by a 60-year-old Winnebago County man, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash remains under investigation.
