Flights Cancellations at Mitchell Because of Northeast Snowstorm

A northeast blizzard canceled all flights out of Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport to New York's La Guardia, Boston and Newark.

Air travelers are advised to check with their airline first before arriving at the airport.

More than 3,000 flights have been canceled up and down the east coast, including 1,700 at airports around New York.

Many airlines calling off flights are a preemptive strike against what is expected to be a 24 hour long event.

There are winter storm warnings in effect from Maine to Maryland.

Plowing began in earnest Thursday morning in Central Pennsylvania where some parts have already seen upwards of a foot of snow.

Forecasters are calling for upwards of 18 inches of snow on Long Island.

Just a day earlier, it was spring time warmth with temperatures in the 60's.
