Fire damages old barn near Sylvania Sunday morning

RACINE COUNTY, WI (CBS 58) --  No one was injured when a building caught fire this morning near Sylvania in Racine County.  The fire began around 9:15 AM as  two people were working on a snowmobile in an old barn at 51st Drive and 58th Road.    According to the Union Grove Yorkville Fire Department, the two people were were able to start the machine they were working on, but then it caught fire.   The two attempted to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher but could not.  The then fire extended to the building.   Firefighters were called and they were able to put out the relatively minor blaze in about a hour.   The damage to the building, which is used for storage and as a workshop, is estimated at about $10,000.   The snowmobile which caught fire and a second snowmobile, however, are considered a total loss.   A four-wheeler and car were also damaged in the fire. Other equipment stored in the building were damaged by soot and smoke..
