PEWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) – Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin held a free socially-distanced food distribution at Lakeland Supply in Pewaukee on Monday, September 14.
The goal was to hand out around 1,000 boxes which contained potatoes, chicken, dairy products and carrots.
Feeding America says needs have grown across the nation and in Wisconsin for people since the pandemic began.
"We’ve had a 35 percent increase in need that has plateaued and has continued," Scott Marshall with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin said. "It’s not just people that you see that you think ordinarily might need help, it’s a lot of people that have never had to ask for help previously."
Marshall said anyone in need should call 211 to get connected to a local food pantry.
